I hope you all had as good a Christmas and New Year as is allowed under the current regulations. The current environment is difficult for us all and we must be conscious that the priority for us all is to take action to minimise the effect of the virus. I'm aware that the situation is serious for all businesses and particularly those involved in the hospitality industry who depend for their existence on social interaction. I applaud those who were proactive during the restrictions in adapting to the regulations and maintaining a safe environment where they are allowed to and those others, both pubs and brewers, who have endeavoured to provide a takeaway and delivery service.
As we enter 2021, there is hope as the vaccines are increasingly rolled out, although as I write the number of infected people in intensive care is the highest since the start of the pandemic. Let's all keep safe and hope for better news. In the meantime, I hope that the Government will respond to the many entreaties for support for the hospitality sector and that we will be able to continue to enjoy their company in 2021.
